How we started out ACVV Peninsula is a registered non-profit (NPO 011-331) welfare organization that provides services to poor and vulnerable people, regardless of their race or religion. ACVV Peninsula management program provides the framework, policies and standards for service delivery and ensure that all statutory requirements are met.
The ACVV was established on 1 September 1904 in Cape Town by a group of women who wanted to offer active and practical help to victims of the Anglo Boer War. These services grew and transformed from emergency relief, primary health care, educational programmes and welfare work to comprehensive child and family care services that include services to older persons. In 1954 ACVV Peninsula was established to render services to Maitland, Garden Village, Brooklyn, Rugby, Albow Gardens and Ysterplaat. |
How we've grownACVV Peninsula’s main focus is to provide care and protection for children and families living in a designated working area. Services are aimed at protecting clients from physical and emotional abuse and enhancing people’s psycho-social functioning through therapeutic service and skills development projects.
ACVV Peninsula is a designated child protection organization which has the statutory obligation to protect children and families in accordance with the Children's Act 38/2005. ACVV Peninsula is situated at 37 Hely Street Maitland, services 6 communities, a population of 150 000 people, within a radius of 10 km. A total of 5000 people are presently benefitting from ACVV Peninsula’s services. Staff training and supervision are done regularly. ACVV Peninsula utilizes a multi-professional team to focus on the best interest of its beneficiaries. ACVV Peninsula believes in networking with a variety of forums and organizations. It is managed by a Management Board and a Regional Consultant from the ACVV Head Office. The staff consists of 3 social workers, 1 auxiliary social worker, 2 admin staff, an accountant and 4 supporting staff members. There are 11 full time staff members. The organization made use of 9 volunteers, and 2 students. |
